Lately, I’ve been spending my freetime attempting to delve into the fine art of screen printing. I am still really new to this and have been out of practice as far as traditional printing is concerned since I graduated from Art School. I designed/prepped the art in Illustrator, printed out the images on regular paper, cut out the images, oiled them up with vegetable oil, and mounted them on acetate. The oil essentially transforms the paper into a negative, so you can avoid buying expensive printer-ready acetate.
Overall, the results were pretty good, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that this new found hobby is going to take a bit of practice before it yields anything delicious. If all goes well, I’ll have some nice looking prints and loads more patience after a few weeks of working at this. Check a few pulls from tonight in my Arts Set on Flickr.
